Ok Diner

Howdy y'all!! So who would have thought that a place by a petrol station (or should I say has station?) down the A38 would have produced such tasty burgers!

It may seem an unlikely place but the Ok Diner offers good old American burgers with a good old American atmosphere! 

We were very much impressed with the range of burgers on offer here...but such a tempting choice...in the end we decided upon the Breakfast Burger and The Philly Cheese Burger. We opted for the 6oz as it was a Wednesday and on Wednesday they have an offer of 'Any 6oz Burger for £6' (you can always go for the option of the 10oz!). 

As burgers go this one was pretty darn good. As the Diner is all decced out like a proper American one...you could be fooled in to thinking you were across the pond! A diner down Route 66...not the A38! The music is that of the jukebox glory days and the memrobelia on the walls sets a good vibe. 

There is also a special extra that gets serve with these burgers...one that can be saved an displayed proudly...a little American flag standing to attention on the top of an excellent burger!

HIDE Burger Bar

So Happy National Burger Day folks!

To celebrate we took our first visit to the HIDE Burger Bar in Derby...and impressed we were! 

Overall we were impressed with the burger...it was a special called the 'Double, Double, Double'. It consisted of 2 6oz beef pattys, double bacon and double cheese.

We were initially scared with the size of the burger...but we couldn't help but finish it off! The only part that let it down was the disintegration of the bun...we even took one of the epic burgers out...but the bun couldn't cope!

HIDE Burger Bar has a great vibe about it and has some good beer (we had a cheeky Samuel Adams). 

Overall great atmosphere and definitely somewhere you get a lot for your money...recommended...maybe just ask for extra napkins! 

So we mark everything out of 5 and then give an overall score!

An Idea...

So a couple of months ago myself and a friend decided that our weekly 'Burger Night' needed an extra spark. We had a think about how many burgers we had eaten (I won't tell you how many!) but wondered whether we could come up with a rating system that would determine Derby's Best Burgers!

We discussed what we thought are the most important elements that make a burger great. Here is what we thought of...

• Presentation
• Quality/Tastiness of Burger
• Quality/Tastiness of Bun
• Quality/Tastiness of Toppings
• Quality/Tastiness of Sides

We decided that these things all were major parts of creating a good burger...which got us thinking more creatively. We also really wanted to rate other elements that make eating out (especially burgers) more enjoyable. It is my pleasure to also announce a 'Part 2' to the rating system....

• Variety of Choice
• Name of Burger
• Variety of Beverages
• Value

 Our rating system is now complete and since discussing our ideas we have undertaken the difficult decision to go out in to Derby...find burgers...eat them...and rate them!

We started the blog as a possible way for others to see what we think of Burgers (and maybe even persuade them to go and try them for themselves!).
